How beautiful, Andy. That’s quite a stunning piece of art and, as you say, a great motto, too.

Hiya Ellie, thanks again. That picture tells a story – there’s flames, destruction and sadness on the pilot’s face, I get that, believe me, but there’s also transcendence over those difficult circumstances; a star , a bird , shimmering light. As you say , beautiful . I need to own that motto , one day at a time.Peace, Andy.

Thank you for this explanation, Andy. That makes it all the more beautiful in my eyes. It’s a great motto indeed.

This beautiful window is a reminder that through adversity, we can achieve great things. The RAF motto is “Adversus malum”, meaning “Against evil” and this is very evident in the RAF’s story. They have faced many challenges and have persevered, even when the odds were against them. This window is a reminder of the important part New Zealand pilots played in the RAF’s great heritage.

Thank you for that insight into the motto and the related RAF one, and just for checking into the post, much appreciated. I was certainly inspired by the messages that the window artwork conveys.
