Eighties Palm Regret

20200120_204849

Palm fans, shot on the weekend, get  some (probably regrettable) 1980s neon  hues.

No idea why, as I spent most of that decade running from that particular art and fashion tendency.

Possibly it’s a bad flashback to a time that had no regrets about itself, even though it damn well should have. I am looking at you, Boy George and Wham…

And I had a thing for potted palms at the time, thinking they were the height of  interior decorating sophistication, dragging them around from one short term abode to the next.

Ah, good times…

Fronds On The Fading Year

IMG_1701 (2).jpg

This shot of fern fronds was taken on  New Year’s Eve a few years ago.

The last day of the year.

Later in the evening there will be a small party and our  posse will go out to the ridge and view fireworks as the New Year’s entrance is vividly signalled.

But in the moment of this photo, there are only hours to run in the current year. That time of bittersweet thought,  regret and anticipation intertwined.

Only a few of the pictured fronds are in focus;the rest are as blurred  as memories of the year past.

Fading….fading….fast.
