White Rose Purity

‘White Rose Purity’

I know what a white rose is supposed to symbolise, but purity would have to be the most elusive human quality of them all. It is certainly aspirational though.

The white rose also means ‘new beginnings’. That might be a bit more relatable, given that our lives are a succession of endings and fresh starts, whether we plan them or not.

So then, take your pick – just don’t get pricked…

All That Glitters…Gets Boxed In

It’s the way of the world.

If something is shiny and precious enough, it gets assigned a value over and above its basic elements.

And like this very yellow gold jewellery in an Asian glass display cabinet, it gets boxed in.

To be admired, shown off and micro-examined by others with their own motivations, good or otherwise.

I have seen it with people I know or are well aware of – once you are on constant display there is a polished role or roles to be played.

That person might still shine but their light is often captured in the box of others.

A gold bracelet has an amplified worth, but it had a unique molecular character and purity before the artisan’s touch gave it a lustre to be lusted after, or sold to someone with enough cash.

We are all valuable in our own right, and really need just enough glimmer to throw light on the free path we are on.

Pure And Blessed

“Blessed are the pure in heart” reads the inscription on this grave in a cemetery close to where I live. Great words, and maybe they befitted the deceased.

If memory serves me correctly, the words are those of  Jesus ,from the Sermon on the Mount.

You can cast doubt on religion, but not those words.

When we and our motives are pure – and it may not be much of the time (in my case anyway!) -things, blessings, flow, on and through us ,upon the world around us.

You don’t have to be the Dalai Lama or Mother Theresa – anyone can  know those small moments of purity when you  do the right thing for the right reasons or are the right person in the right place at the right time.

Purity.

Simple but elusive and fleeting.

You can’t seek it, any more than you can blessings.

But when a moment or someone is pure you just know.

And are blessed.
