Posting this image of a grand colonial era hotel in Penang (swaying palm trees and all) apropos of nothing other than that I have just managed to book a motel for a short road trip out of Auckland.
Somewhere I have never been.
And the cheap motel will be nothing like the one in the picture.
There might be palm trees, you never know.
But the same sense of anticipation of travel to somewhere new and exotic is there.
I hope to get to my destination next Monday.
